Taste: Mildly sweet, refreshing herbaceous “cilantro” taste with a definite unctuous velvety feeling that coats the tongue briefly.
Medicinal Indications.
In Belize, culantro and the cilantro are used interchangeably in local dishes for their unique aromatic flavour. These herbs are also employed for their natural stomachic properties. Culantro Elixir aids digestion and can be used for dyspepsia and trapped wind. Dosage recommendation is a single shot (30mls/1oz) taken after heavy meals.
Serving Suggestions.
- Store in the freezer for a cool, sipping liqueur. Pour into a liqueur glass or shot glass and enjoy. Excellent after-dinner digestif especially after a heavy meal.
- Serve in a highball glass over ice and top up with soda. Add an orange twist to complement the herbaceous taste.
