Morning Wake Up!!

I woke up this morning at the usual time 6am and then dived under the covers, covering my ears.  I pretended that I was snoozing.  Gnome was tossing and turning and huffing and puffing because he knew what was about to come:  the usual 6am DIN.  The goosies go off like nothing on earth…shrieking and honking like there is no tomorrow right at our doorstep:  HONK –WAKEUP–HONK!!!!  RISE AND SHINE MUNCHKIN AND GNOME–HONK HONK!!!.  This has been our wake up call for the last two weeks and it has been gradually driving us potty!  Gnome shouted into my little cave under the blankets,

“…can you sleep through that??”

No I couldn’t but I was insisting on not getting up!!  Right now we are having early morning rains which is the perfect reason for sleeping in…but the geese are making it impossible.  Anyway,  as we got up, the noise rose to a fever pitch and when I opened the front door to peak through a crack, they cackled and shrieked with gusto… and when I finally opened the door wide, they suddenly stopped like nothing had happened.  They were shuffling about on the yard minding their own business.

I swear, they are doing this on purpose!!  The goosies are out to get us with their evil goosie taunts…

Mean and Tough!!

Anyway, last night we decided that we can’t stand the noisy geese during breeding season which happens to be 6 months of the year!  An executive decision has been made to: “fence them out.”  We are going to have a fence around our house to protect us from the noise pollution .  We can’t however do it this year because any changes bang in the middle of breeding season will probably incite a riot and we might be over-thrown in the power struggle.

The original plan was to “Fence Goosies In” to protect them from critters and possums.  The new plan is to “Fence Goosies out” to protect us from them…

“Fence Goosies Out.” is going to be job#586: we will get to it hopefully by the end of the year.  Meanwhile, we have to get up at 6am every morning, rain or shine…

Thanks Everyone!

Just a quick one this morning…

Thanks to all who responded to my test post yesterday.  I am glad that the posts are getting through.  Things still aren’t quite perfect yet but we will hopefully get everything sorted out in the next couple of weeks.

Thanks again to all of you!!!  Munchkin and Gnome.

Test Post!!

Munchkin.in.the.Wind

Hello!!  Is there anyone out there?  This is a test post to check if our followers are getting our blogs again.  We have been temporarily (one month!!) off line changing hosts and setting up a shop (yeah, a shop that actually has a cart…more to come soon).  Please can any of our WordPress followers let us know if they are getting this test post!  Thank-you very much!

A Happy Ending!

Munchkin.CuteA couple of weeks ago, I received an email from a lady in the States who had discovered our Casa Mascia products whilst on holiday in Toledo.  I think that she bought a few items but once she was back home her young daughter became enthralled by them. Anyway, after a few excited emails back and forth, she ordered a whole load of extra goodies.  I told her that the package would most likely reach her within two weeks via the Belize Postal Service.

The package was due to arrive at her address the beginning of this week.  Yesterday, I received an email from this lady saying,

“The post office lost it at the post office…”

Now I didn’t exactly get the details of the story but it sounded like a lot of back and forth trips to the post office with cries of woe and frustration a-plenty.

Now, we have never had any of our packages lost in the post and this was our first time.  So we decided that under these distressing circumstances the best thing to do was to send out a new package quick smart.  The lady was understandably stressed over the loss of the package and so I tried to console her over an email,

“…these things have a way of working out so don’t worry about it.”

She asked me if I was covered for insurance and I looked at the back of the certificate of posting and read the following:

Postal Ticket.
Postal Ticket.

The short answer was “No.”  If you actually care to read the small print it will make you laugh…it is totally archaic and out-dated and looks like it was the policy made back in the British Honduras days.

I was just about to start getting the new package together when I received the following email with “Look what we got!” and this absolutely priceless picture.

Goodies Arrived!
Goodies Arrived!

Here are more pictures with the opened package:

Goodies!!
Goodies!!

Apparently, it was a lost and found package!  I didn’t ask anymore questions.  All that is important is that this story has a very happy ending!

Thank-you For The Gifts.

You might recall that in a previous post which was written about 2 months ago, I had expressed the need for a desk lamp.  In fact, I had been quite explicit about it because the post was named “I Need A Desk Lamp.”

I had actually posted this at the time because I was really rather desperate for one as I wanted a close-up light to hand-sew.  At that time, Gnome advised me to ask for it directly in order to prove or disprove the idea of “ask and you shall receive.”  I was a bit cynical but decided that it was worth the try…besides I couldn’t find one in Belize.

On New Year’s Day I reminded Gnome of this intention that I had made and rather glumly said to him that I did not receive a desk lamp so I had to disprove the theory.  Gnome replied by saying,

“Maybe it just hasn’t come yet.”

I shrugged my shoulders and let it go.

Then this happened today.  Whenever we get all sorts of computer stuff that we no longer need to use but still works, we usually give it away to guy in Punta Gorda who “does computers” so that he can add it to his graveyard of electronics.  Anyway, we went to see him today to give him stuff and he was so appreciative that he offered a “free room” in his shop on the off chance that we were stranded in town for the night.  He also gave us this:

Solar Desk Lamp.
Solar Desk Lamp.

When Gnome saw this, he beamed a knowing smile at me.  When I saw this, I  grinned back!!

Too funny, right?  And this guy has never read my Blog or seen my statement of intent.  What are the chances of that?

Anyway, Thank-you!!  And another big Thank-you to Paul for his gift of speakers.  Now we can listen to our favourite songs in the middle of the jungle.

This one is for you Paul:
